Economic “crisis” doesn’t always have only negative effects on the Executive Search profession. Quite the opposite; the current economic recession has provoked companies to invest in talent, and to rethink what has been accomplished so far and what can be improved in the future in order to continue their growth model.

In practice, this climate of uncertainty leads, among other things, companies to create new recruitment formulas as well as open their mind set, looking at other sectors when they hire new executives. Up until now the Spanish market could be characterized by its inflexibility in allowing executives move between sectors, however in the current economic situation, there are new opportunities for these kinds of changes.

On one hand, it’s clear that there are substantial changes and new organizational plans being implemented that directly affect the letting go of executives and with which they are not in agreement. On the other hand, the new placements that are arising often invigorate business or stabilize it allowing the international development of new businesses.

In short, the crisis keeps us on our toes and aware of the constantly changing needs for talent, which in the long-term is positive for all companies helping them to continue to be competitive and creative.
